Back in 1987 New York hip hop pioneers and personal favorites of mine the Beastie Boys released one of their biggest selling hits called (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party). Twenty four years later Adam Yauch aka MCA wrote and directed a 30 minute short film which is kind of a sequel to the events that took place in the original video for the song. The film stars Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen and Susan Sarandon, and except the actual band it also features quite a number of guest appearances including Will Ferrell, Jack Black and Steve Buscemi. Take a look

Logan Hicks
For some people Logan Hicks is somewhat of a stencil legend. Originally from Baltimore, Hicks moved to the west coast in the late 90's selling all his screenprinting equipment in order to find the money he needed to start over a new life in Los Angeles where he now resides. In order to simulate the screenprinting process which was his first occupation, Hicks turned into stencils and thats what he has been working with since 2006. Although for most people stencils are primarily art that appears on the streets, Hicks does not consider himself a street artist. His works are known for the excessive use of detail in the process of creating a single piece. Putting one stencil on top of the other layering them so the image will eventually emerge, is a process that can take hours and no matter what the subject is, Hicks always finds a way to create landscapes that seem like a moment in time where everything is on pause whether its patters of nature, buildings or people. Various pieces of his have caught the attention of companies like Red Bull and Disney that have used them in their campaigns, and have also been exhibited in galleries and festivals all across the world

Carl Burgess for Ratatat - Drugs.
The following video has been directed by Carl Burgess. Searching for 'Stressed Businessman' or 'Old Man Smilling' on Getty Images throws up 100s of great results. There is a surreal quality to these staged clips, and more often than not a really strange dark humor about them. Unconvincing acting, forced emotions, cheap lighting are just some of the things that make these clips unique, and these are the qualities Carl Burgess wanted to embrace".

Synecdoche, New York.
After watching "Synecdoche New York" I felt like I had to share my feelings with everybody.
The Oscar-nominated screenwriter has found a way to intelligently explore profound issues of life and death through a comedy. A sentimental, utterly distinctive, gloomy in a manner that the fans will recognise and adore, life-changing, extremely emotional, even depressing.
Different views have been expressed through the media as the film is a real "thinker".
From my point of view it's a real masterpiece that simply brings the main realistic concerns of the human existence, life and death, with a radical and surrealistic touch which some of you might love or hate.
Written, produced and directed by Charlie Kaufman, the guy who wrote "Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind". Featuring Philip Seymour Hoffman.. Say no more.
Enjoy!

Design for Obama
Its been two years since Barack Obama became the first African American president in the history of the United States. At the time of the race for the presidency, during the primary process and general election, there was a huge campaign running to support his candidacy in which hundreds of artists and designers expressed their support by designing posters and submitting them to designforobama.org, a website making them available for anyone to download for free. The idea was built on this spirit with an online forum where all kinds of artists and designers could upload their artworks and download the work of others. Shepard Fairey’s "Hope" poster, probably one of the most recognizable images of 2008, became the source of inspiration for other designs that popped up everywhere on the streets, at rallies and registration drives, as well as countless of homes and offices around the US. Edited by designforobama.org founder Aaron Perry-Zucker and filmmaker Spike Lee, this book is a collection that showcases over 200 of the best pro-Obama posters. Prominent graphic and street artists contributed to its creation and along with essays by Spike Lee, Perry-Zucker and design historian Steven Heller, this book is the undisputed witness of the visual creativity that helped Barack Obama become the 44th president in the history of the United States

Back in the Days: Jonathan Mannion
Back in the Days is a Hip Hop festival that takes place every year starting back in 2006 showcasing everything from photography, music, graffiti and print graphics from rap’s golden era during the 80s and 90s. The second in a series of promotional videos for the exhibition in Paris, this is a clip where hip hop photographer Jonathan Mannion, who has worked with everybody from Pharrell Williams to DMX, shares his experiences on the rise of hip hop culture for the past 15 years, as it grew from an underground movement in the early 1990s to the pop culture phenomenon it is today
