For some people Logan Hicks is somewhat of a stencil legend. Originally from Baltimore, Hicks moved to the west coast in the late 90's selling all his screenprinting equipment in order to find the money he needed to start over a new life in Los Angeles where he now resides. In order to simulate the screenprinting process which was his first occupation, Hicks turned into stencils and thats what he has been working with since 2006. Although for most people stencils are primarily art that appears on the streets, Hicks does not consider himself a street artist. His works are known for the excessive use of detail in the process of creating a single piece. Putting one stencil on top of the other layering them so the image will eventually emerge, is a process that can take hours and no matter what the subject is, Hicks always finds a way to create landscapes that seem like a moment in time where everything is on pause whether its patters of nature, buildings or people. Various pieces of his have caught the attention of companies like Red Bull and Disney that have used them in their campaigns, and have also been exhibited in galleries and festivals all across the world
