QNQ

QNQ is an Athens based project dedicated in booking some of the most aspiring but also well established names in the hip hop genre. Over the years they have booked shows for artists such as Ghostface Killa, Mablib and 2Mex just to name a few. The other day i sat down for a quick Q & A session with the people behind QNQ talking about hopes, memories and of course music

Q: So guys, you want to tell me about the main idea behind QNQ and how was it conceived?

A: Just over 4 years now, we came up with the idea while we were chilling. We also took advantage of the fact that one of us has been involved with lives since 2001 under a different banner

Q: OK. Who was your first booking?

A: It was in the summer of 2007 when we booked Peanut Butter Wolf of Stones Throw Records for a gig at AN Club

Q: How do you feel about all the support you have received from the people here in Athens these past four years?

A: To be honest with you it kind of varies. The thing with the hip hop scene for foreign acts seems to be like an up and down situation of some kind, so sometimes it might go well and sometimes it might not

Q: Right, so i guess there were times when you thought about quitting?

A: Yeah definitely

Q: I'm pretty sure though there were some shows that were more “special” than the rest. Can you name a few?

A: If i had to choose i would probably pick our first gig with Peanut Butter Wolf , Kool Keith, Madlib, Shabaam Sahdeeq, but to be honest they've all been dope

Q: How do you choose the artists that you come in contact with. Do you always take into consideration what the people would want to see or is it strictly personal taste?

A: There is really no specific pattern behind that, I think Its more like a random affair

Q: Here's a good one for you. If you could pick one name either living or dead to book for a show without having to pay for anything, who would it be?

A: EAZY E without a doubt

Q: What was the most bizarre thing that any of the artists you have booked has asked for?

A: That would be XXXl Trojan Condoms

Q: So what does the future hold for QNQ?

A: Quality

For anyone interested make sure you check out the Thavius Beck show with lots of good local support acts at K44 in Gazi area, Friday the 16th. Big Up
